As reported in Newsletter Vol. 6 on August 26th, the Kok River flooded on August 15th, causing major damage to the farms, orchards and fish farms in Mae Kok Foundation (MKF). We have decided to donate 450,000 yen for a portion of the funds necessary to pile up sandbags to prevent the water from the flooded Kok River from entering and to carry out the foundation concrete work of the damaged guest house. At first, we have already sent 200,000 yen to MKF as part of the annual donation from MRA Foundation. The remaining 250,000 yen will be asked for individual donations from everyone.

As of September 5th, donations received from everyone are as follows.

Total personal donation: 122,490 yen

Global Charity Cooking Donation: 55,000 yen

Donation from people in Bangkok: 76,000 yen

Total 253,490 yen

Surprisingly, we were able to achieve our goal of 250,000 yen in individual donations + 200,000 yen in remittances from MRA Foundation = 450,000 yen in total within 10 days after asking everyone to donate on August 26th. We would like to transfer your individual donations to MKF as soon as possible. If you still want to donate but are too busy to send money, it’s not too late. We would like to make an additional remittance on September 20th. It’s not too late, so please send money to the Mae Kok Support Association. We would like to use your remittances for the maintenance of farms and orchards, the purchase of seeds and trees for crops, and the purchase of fry for fish farms. We look forward to your warm cooperation.

Global Charity Cooking Thai Vol.2 Was Held

“Enjoyable International Contribution!” Series Cooking Corner,

Global Charity Cooking Thai Vol.2 was held on September 3rd.

We received a total of 55,000 yen in support from the 12 participants.

Thank you. Your donation will be sent as a fund for MKF’s flood countermeasures.

This time we made a dish called “Pad See Ew”.

It was a menu that the management staff, Ms. Kiriha Megumi (Kiri-chan) loved.

Some ingredients and seasonings were difficult to obtain in Japan,

Mindi, the instructor, and Ms. Yuka Shimabayashi, the operation staff, discussed in advance and sampled the food, so we prepared what we could prepare in Japan.

Thanks to that, all the people who ate it were surprised and delighted. One of the participants also gave this impression. “I’ve always made stir-fried rice vermicelli and ate it, but the taste was completely different and delicious. Why? When we think about it, we think that we added a procedure to season the ingredients. It seems that there was also a new discovery.

After the meal, we enjoyed a quiz prepared by Mindi.

Everyone struggled with quizzes related to Thailand, such as the population of Thailand and the number of provinces. It was a fun time full of laughter.

We will visit Mae Kok Foundation (MKF), an orphanage in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, and carry out a program to interact with children and experience life there!!

How can we interact with children who live in different countries and have different cultures?

In this program, participants discuss what they can do and listen to what the children want to do, and create fruitful activities together.
